The Dacorum Talking Newspaper Privacy Policy

  1. 1.The purpose of this Policy

The Dacorum Talking Newspaper (DTN) is committed to protecting the privacy of all its volunteers and listeners (members).  This policy explains how DTN holds, stores and uses the personal data of its members.

  1. 2.The data DTN holds

DTN holds only the data needed to carry out its functions.  For each volunteer, their mailing address, telephone number(s) and email address.  For each listener, their mailing address, telephone number(s) and, if available, their email address.  This information is held securely by the Secretary and, for volunteers, telephone numbers are published on the work rota to enable efficient management of the teams.  For listeners, their mailing addresses are used by the distribution teams, the rest of the information being retained by the Secretary and her assistant.

  1. 3.Accessing, Amending or Deleting Data

Members have the right to ask for a copy of their personal data at any time.  They can ask for their data to be changed or, if ceasing to be a volunteer or listener, deleted – known as the right to be forgotten.  All such requests should be addressed to the Secretary.

  1. 4.Complaints concerning DTN’s handling of personal data

Members should contact the Secretary or the Chairman if they have concerns about the handling of their data so that action can be taken immediately to remedy the situation.  If the member is dissatisfied with the response received or requires advice the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) can be contacted on 0303 123 1113 or by mail at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.  The ICO’s website is at ico.org.uk.

  1. 5.Policy approval and review

This policy was submitted for approval by the DTN Committee in 2020 and will be reviewed in January 2023.
